If you knew me well enough, you’d probably be able to guess my mood, based entirely upon what music I’m listening to. Yesterday, for example, I was listening to a lot of Coldplay. Today, I’m feeling very Nine Inch Nails-ish. 

Back when I still had a car, if I had a bad day at work, or got into a fight with the bf, I would screech off in my Civic, chain smoking through the sunroof, blasting NiN’s With Teeth as loud as my stereo could go. I drove up and down Portage Ave until I felt better, or until I finished the album (whichever happened first). 

Nowadays, my transportation options are more limited, but my god does a little loud music go a long way. 

I’ve really been feelin’ the Coldplay vibe lately…

The Weakerthans are a huge part of my Winnipeg. I’ve loved lots of their songs over the years (One Great City!, Plea From A Cat Named Virtue, The Reasons), but this remains one of my favourite songs, of all time, ever.

Circumnavigate this body of wonder and uncertainty. Armed with every precious failure, and amateur cartography, I breathe in deep before I spread these maps out on my bedroom floor. Leaving, wave goodbye, losing but I’ll try, with the last ways left, to remember.
